COPE

COPE takes seriously your privacy. Our system is HIPAA compliant. We have invested heavily in a secure, online communication environment. Communication between you and the counselor is done via a secure Internet connection and not through an email system. All patients create their own secure portal with a username and password. Likewise, counselors will have their own username and password to access the provider portal. Additionally, we have implemented managerial, electronic, and physical measures (i.e. biometric scans) to ensure that all medical data and patient-counselor messages are safeguarded and secure.

COPE requires each patient to provide a valid email address. We use this email address to notify you that a counselor has responded to your most recent message. Your email address will also be used when scheduling an appointment for a telephone or video session. The email does not contain the counselor's message, nor does it contain any reference to the topic of discussion. The email will merely state that you have received a message and it can be viewed at your secure portal.

Additionally, neither your Commander nor anyone else at the NC NG will know that you are accessing mental health services. The only exceptions are: you become suicidal, you become homicidal, or your situation escalates to a point where you need immediate in-person counseling. Depending on the circumstances, the NC NG Chaplain will be notified or your emergency contact and the local authorities. If you require in-person counseling, with your knowledge, we will contact the NC NG for their assistance in securing an appointment for you.

If you have any questions, please contact us at 1-800-200-5202. We are available to assist you Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm Eastern Time.
