ABOUT COPE NC

COPE NC started when the founder, Tania Malik, was inspired by an article she came across profiling a Soldier who was struggling with emotional issues after returning from multiple deployments in Iraq. The most troubling aspect of the story was not the illness itself, but the perceived stigma attached to seeking help. Immediately, Tania began to research the idea of offering mental health services online. It seemed so obvious to her that the Internet was an outstanding alternative for people to reach out and have someone listen to their concerns. Her goal was to create a place where people felt comfortable and safe talking about their problems without the perceived stigma and discrimination.

As a North Carolina-based company, Tania launched COPE NC to serve the needs of North Carolina's National Guard Soldiers. Tania is honored to work with the Guard because those Soldiers are our citizen-soldiers. They can literally be at their normal job one day and the next day finds them in Mississippi training to go to Iraq. Tania learned and continues to learn from the COPE NC pilot. For example, she did not have plans to include live chat in the service, but she quickly learned that when people reach out for help, they want it immediately. Live chat is now one of the services at COPE NC.

We would like to hear from you about how we are doing and what you think we can do better. The feedback form will go directly to Tania who cares about your experience and wants to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly.
